Seventeen students from Taguig City were recently awarded scholarships by the Always With Us (AWU) Foundation, a Korean foundation, in a ceremony at the Trade Hall of Vista Mall in Taguig City.
Each student received financial assistance of ten thousand pesos. These college students were carefully selected by the foundation to be recipients of this aid.
The seventeen students, coming from various schools in Taguig, underwent rigorous selection and interview processes. These individuals are standout students, each with their own story of perseverance in their studies.
This group of seventeen represents the first batch of participants in AWU's scholarship program. The foundation plans to expand the number of scholarships in future years.
"Since this is our first donation of scholarships and our first scholarship event, the amount and the number of students are relatively low-P10,000 per student. However, in our future donations, we plan to support more students with larger scholarships," said Seungchan Lee, president of the AWU Foundation.
The students expressed their gratitude towards the AWU Foundation for the help they received for their education.
Among them is Angelo Salgado, a 3rd year college student at Taguig City University, who said the assistance provided by AWU is a big help to students, especially with the many expenses involved in college.
"Thank you very much to the big boss, to the CEO. Thank you very much. Kamsahamnida," said Ellyn Kaye Biado, a 1st Year College student at Our Lady of Guadalupe Colleges.
The AWU Foundation assists impoverished families in the Philippines and plans to build 1,000 affordable rental condominium units to provide housing for the homeless.
