Chinese, Vietnamese, and other nationalities were apprehended in a joint operation by the BI, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), Department of Justice - Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (DOJ-IACAT), and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

It was discovered that the group, arrested in a building along Senator Gil Puyat Avenue Extension and Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City on October 3, 2024, was involved in a love scam.

Moreover, the foreigners were found to be staying illegally in the country based on the BI's investigation.

"These individuals were found engaging in unauthorized employment and illegal operations, in violation of the Philippine Immigration Act. BI operatives have completed the initial procedures, including the identification and documentation of the individuals involved. Investigations are ongoing to determine further violations," stated the released statement of the BI.
