Over 22,000 police officers will be deployed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) for the upcoming third State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on July 22, 2024.

PNP Chief Police General Rommel Marbil stated that they do not see any threats for the forthcoming SONA, however, if there are, they are prepared to deploy additional police officers for its security.



Eight hundred and twenty-one rigorously trained police officers will be deployed by the Southern Police District for President Marcos' SONA.

According to the SPD, they continue to conduct training sessions and seminars at their headquarters in Taguig City to ensure the safety and security of the participants in the SONA and the public in general.


The SPD conducted a two-day seminar related to the Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) operations refresher course to effectively resolve any disturbances that may occur during the SONA amidst expected protest actions.

The SPD is also practicing their 8-Basic CDM formations. This intensive training is crucial for effectively controlling crowds that will take to the streets.

The SPD assured that they will maintain peace and respect the rights of the individuals participating in the demonstrations on the day of the SONA.
