Three members of the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army - National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) have renounced their ties to the group and immediately pledged their allegiance to the government in a ceremony held at Police Substation 4 on Tomasa Avenue, Brgy. Ususan, Taguig last July 16, 2023.

The three individuals were former members of the Alliance of Filipino Workers (AFW), a labor union known for advocating anti-government sentiments and supporting communist ideologies.

It was revealed that they previously recruited new members and participated in large-scale protests organized by the Communist Movement.

The Southern Police District (SPD) stated that the withdrawal of support from the Communist Movement by these three individuals is a significant step towards promoting peace, unity, and progress in the country.

The SPD assured that they, along with other government agencies, would continue to provide for the primary needs of the surrendered individuals.
