Sixty cooperative beneficiaries in Taguig City have received Negocarts from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as an aid to establish their own livelihoods.
During the celebration of Cooperative Month, which had the theme "Cooperatives: Stronger Together Today for a Brighter Tomorrow", the Taguig Cooperative Development Office (TCDO) stressed the crucial role of cooperatives in advancing Taguig's economic growth.
The beneficiaries of the DOLE Food Negocarts first underwent financial literacy training and had their health statuses checked to ensure that they can properly operate the Negocarts.
Their potential merchandise includes pares and mami, siopao and siomai, milk tea, and they even have 5-in-1 food carts.
TCDO head Lecira Juarez stated that Taguig's cooperatives significantly contribute to the country's economy as Taguig holds a 15.56% share, or a P92.47 billion contribution to the total cooperative assets in the country, based on a report from the Cooperative Development Authority. The total cooperative assets in the country amount to over P623 billion.
