Seventy-four individuals who previously abused illegal substances have successfully completed their Outpatient Counseling Program.
A moving-up ceremony was held at the Taguig City University Auditorium on December 18, 2024, where recognition was given to the Individuals Who Abused Drugs (IWADs) who underwent rehabilitation.
This initiative is not only aimed at treating former drug users, but also to assist them in changing their lives.
In the speech of Taguig City Councilor Nicky Supan, he encouraged the recovered IWADs to embrace the initiative of Taguig in the fight against drugs.
"Each one of you is important, and we have many programs in the city government for you. All you need to do is open your mind, heart, and self to change."
Among those who have recovered from their drug-laden lives is a 56-year-old female IWAD from Barangay San Miguel.
She said that her grandchildren became her inspiration to change her life because she didn't want them to be bullied due to her past actions.
She also expressed her gratitude to the City Government of Taguig for giving her the opportunity to work in City Hall.
Another recovered IWAD is a 22-year-old woman from Barangay New Lower Bicutan who is applying to continue her studies through the Alternative Learning System.
She also expressed her thanks to Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano for the opportunity given to her to change and start anew.
