Taguig City, CareSpan, and Singapore's Temasek Foundation have signed an agreement aimed at improving and modernizing the health services for the residents of Taguig.

Temasek Foundation will fund S$2.12 million for the infrastructure that will provide access to a modern Digital Health Care platform for about 350,000 impoverished individuals in Taguig who greatly need health care assistance.

This pilot program agreement, a collaboration between CareSpan Asia, Incorporated, Temasek Foundation, and Taguig City Government under the Public-Private-Philanthropic Partnership (PPPP), was signed at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Bonifacio Global City, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City yesterday, August 16, 2024.

The signing of the agreement was witnessed by Singapore Minister for Health, Mr. Ong Ye Kung.

A system will be implemented for the electronic medical records of Taguig residents, along with consultation and prescription services via telemedicine, introduced within Taguig City's local health program.

Taguig City Government will train volunteers and health workers on this aspect, teaching them methods to encourage citizens from impoverished communities to take care of their health always and enroll in Universal Health Care.

Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano emphasized the importance of this partnership in delivering quality and equitable health care to its citizens.

"Our mission in Taguig has always been to provide equitable access to quality and affordable healthcare for all. We have pioneered programs in the country by offering comprehensive care, including nutrition, wellness, and various medical services, bringing healthcare closer to our community - sometimes even directly to their doorsteps," said the mayor.

CareSpan's founder and chairman, Nonoy Colayco, stated that their contribution goes beyond the technology of the electronic medical record system, further simplifying connection to the PhilHealth Consult Package.

"CareSpan is dedicated to transforming healthcare for the underserved with the goal of ending health poverty through technology by providing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and eClaims, to make healthcare more accessible and affordable. We empower health facilities by unlocking financial resources through PhilHealth Consult claims ensuring that even the most vulnerable communities receive the care they deserve," said Colayco.

According to Kee Kirk Chuen, the head of Temasek Foundation's Health and Well-Being division, the foundation has been implementing programs in the Philippines related to education, health, public governance, and disaster preparedness and response for 17 years.

"The foundation will provide catalytic funding for these two new innovative programs to offer proof of concept, with the aim of having them scaled by the government or private capital to benefit more Filipinos," said Chuen.
