The Philippine Army (PA) has partnered with the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) to further enhance various mental health programs and promote a safer environment for the military personnel. The collaboration took place in a meeting held at the Philippine Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Army Chief Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawnwr Jr expressed his gratitude towards the Philippine Army Human Rights Office (AHRO) and CHR for advancing "mental health programs" and cultivating a "culture of safe spaces" within the military.
During the meeting with CHR Chairperson Atty. Richard P. Palpal-latoc, General Brawner reported their creation of "safe spaces" in the Army that emphasize respect and openness to the "social differences" of various individuals.
Chairperson Palpal-latoc expressed satisfaction with the Philippine Army's pro-activity in promoting human rights through training, information dissemination, and dialogue with officials and staff both in and out of the camp.
Brawner assured Palpal-latoc that the Phil. Army will continue to cooperate with the CHR to create a "safe and secure environment" and a "wholistic mental health program" for the benefit of both civilians and soldiers in the military.
