At 48, Mercy bid her farewell following a battle with lung and breast cancer at Stanford Hospital and Clinics in San Francisco, California, on November 17, 2024.
In a Facebook post by Aegis band, they expressed their deep sorrow over Mercy's demise.
"It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Mercy, one of the beloved vocalists of AEGIS Band. She bravely fought her battle with cancer but has now found peace and rest. Mercy's voice wasn't just a part of AEGIS-it was a voice that brought comfort, joy, and strength to so many. She has touched countless lives, inspiring fans and lifting spirits with every song she sang. Her passion, warmth, and unforgettable presence on stage will forever be cherished in our hearts," said the Aegis group.
In Mercy's last video from the hospital, she requested for prayers from her fans and family as she had difficulty breathing following her operation.
"My lung surgery is done. But suddenly, I found it hard to breathe. So I was brought to the ICU. Now, there's inflammation in my lungs and they're doing something about it. The doctor gave me steroids for the inflammation," said Mercy.
"Please pray for me that this trial will end soon. Pray for me," she added.
Mercy was known for having the highest and most powerful voice in the Aegis band. Among her popular hits were Halik, Sayang na Sayang, and Luha.
