Nearly half a million pesos worth of suspected methamphetamine, locally known as shabu, was seized from a woman allegedly involved in drug peddling during a buy-bust operation in Central Signal Village, Taguig City late last night.
Salama Utto was approached by an undercover officer posing as a potential buyer for the illicit substance and handed over ₱500 for the drug purchase on Francis Street, Central Signal Village, at around 3:20 AM yesterday.
After the money was handed over to Utto by the undercover buyer, authorities from the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Taguig City Police Station apprehended the suspect.
13 transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride were recovered from Utto.
The total value of the seized substance is estimated to be around ₱408,000.
In a statement following the successful operation, Police Brig. General Roderick Mariano, Director of the Southern Police District, said, "The continuous successful anti-illegal drug operations have reduced the proliferation of illegal drugs here in Southern Metro Manila and we assure you that we, your police, will keep on conducting significant steps toward the prevention of harmful effects of drugs reaching the hands of vulnerable victims."
