In celebration of National Rural Women's Day on October 15, 2024, and Rural Women's Month this October, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) will be hosting its first-ever pageant showcasing the beauty and talent of 18 lovely ladies from various DAR offices nationwide.

Dubbed as Binibining Agraryo 2024, the project is spearheaded by DAR Undersecretary Rowena Niña Taduran, DPA, of the Support Services Office (SSO) and head of the Gender and Development Office, backed by the Bureau of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Development (BARBD) office under Director Eric Arevalo, DPA.

Binibining Agraryo 2024 aims to elevate the knowledge on the crucial role of women in agrarian reform and how agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) are empowered, while the female employees of DAR represent their offices in the beauty pageant.

This marks the first time for DAR to conduct a beauty pageant that recognizes not only the external appearance but also the invaluable service of the female department employees who actively promote the improvement of the lives of the ARBs.

Under the theme "Women in the Time of Agrarian Reform," candidates from Region 1 to CARAGA and offices of SSO, Legal Affairs Office (LAO), and Finance and Management Office (FMAO) from the DAR Central Office will display their natural beauty and intelligence during the pre-pageant days on October 15 and 16, 2024, at the DAR Central Office (DARCO) Gymnasium in Quezon City.

The chosen host for the two-day preliminaries is Marou Pahati-Sarne, the News Manager of Taguig.com, who is also a broadcaster on TV and radio.

In the main event, Billy Jake Cortez and Riana Pangindian will be the emcees.


The crowning of Miss Agrarian 2024 will be held on October 17, 2024, at the DARCO Gymnasium. Three runners-up will be named Miss Agrarian-Luzon, Miss Agrarian-Visayas, and Miss Agrarian-Mindanao.

In accordance with Proclamation Number 1105 signed by former President Fidel Ramos in 1996, October 15 of each year is declared as "National Rural Women's Day."

Meanwhile, the United Nations, during the 4th UN World Conference on Women in Beijing, China in 1995, declared the same day as World Rural Women's Day, to recognize the previously unrecognized contributions of rural women to food security and rural development.
