There's no cause for worry among the residents of the EMBO (Enlisted Men Barrios) barangays in light of the transition of their jurisdiction from Makati City to Taguig City.

This comes after a motorcade rally held on the afternoon of August 20 by some residents of the EMBO barangays. The event saw individuals on motorcycles and bicycles, dressed in white and blue, advocating for a plebiscite and expressing their desire to remain under Makati's jurisdiction.

This is despite the final decision of the Supreme Court to transfer the 10 EMBO barangays to the care of Taguig City, the rightful owner of the territory.

In an interview conducted by our member from the Taguig.com Group, Hermie Padilla, a senior citizen from Barangay Comembo shared his feelings regarding the transfer of their barangay to the jurisdiction of Taguig City.

He expressed his concerns about the opening of classes, worrying that his grandchildren might not receive the free school uniforms and materials that they previously received from the city government of Makati City. He also mentioned the allowances they used to receive from Makati, that he fears they might not get from Taguig City.

Contrary to circulating reports in the EMBO barangays that there are no benefits in Taguig City, the citizens of Taguig do receive free education and allowances for students, especially those wanting to go to college, according to the city government of Taguig.

In addition, there are free school supplies, bags, shoes, and uniforms, as well as health kits for elementary and high school students. There are also free dialysis and medicines for the sick, especially senior citizens. Seniors also receive a birthday cash gift of P3,000 when they reach the age of 60 to 69, and P4,000 for those aged 70 to 79.

Taguig also has newly established super health centers that can respond to the immediate health needs of its citizens. They also offer free diagnostic laboratory services.

Taguig has assured that all these benefits will be immediately extended to its new constituents in the 10 EMBO barangays.
