According to a statement released by Globe Telecom Incorporated from their office in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, the scammers are calling victims and informing them that their mobile phone numbers are linked to illegal activities.

Following this, the caller threatens the victims and demands money, warning them of potential arrest if they do not comply with their demands.

"Criminals prey on our natural respect for authority, using it as a weapon to deceive and manipulate. This is what we see in this new scam modus, where fraudsters pretend to be NTC officials," said Globe chief information security officer Anton Bonifacio in his statement to the media.

In a statement released by the NTC, they remind mobile phone owners to be vigilant and aware to avoid being deceived by such scammers.

"The NTC strongly reminds the public to be extra cautious against this type of modus operandi. If you have any information about this type of scam, you may report it to the NTC for immediate action through the following official channels: www.ntc.gov.ph complaint link or email: [email protected].
