"Hang in there, no one is letting go." This is likely the message from Makati City Mayor Abby Binay to the residents of ten barangays in Makati City, which are now being transferred to Taguig City.

Binay stated that over 300,000 residents will be affected by the transfer of these barangays to Taguig, following the Supreme Court's decision that Taguig is the rightful owner of Fort Bonifacio Military Reservation, including parcels 3 and 4, Psu-2031, plus the contested ten barangays.

In a video message posted on Makati's official Facebook page, Binay revealed that her city government will coordinate with national government branches and agencies to discuss the situation of the affected citizens.

"We will find ways for Makati to continue serving and helping you," Binay stated.

She further explained that her concern is not about Bonifacio Global City (BGC) or politics, but the well-being of Makati residents. Binay admitted that it hurts to be separated from over 300,000 Makati citizens, who, she says, have been their partners in the rise and development of Makati for a long time.

She is particularly worried about the education of the students and the health of Makati citizens due to the transfer to Taguig.

"I am worried for those who are cared for in our health centers and Makati Hospital (OsMak); those who have been receiving benefits and high quality but free health services only available in Makati. What will happen to them now?" Binay asked.

She also raised concerns for the senior citizens of District 2 in Makati, which covers the 10 barangays being transferred to Taguig City. She pointed out that Makati has allocated over P9 billion for the welfare of the elderly, students, and other residents of the second district.

Binay also questioned Taguig City Government's failure to provide comprehensive services to its citizens despite the large revenue collected from BGC.

"In my opinion, they could provide these to Taguig residents. Their local government says they earn a lot from BGC. But why aren't they doing it? Shouldn't Taguig residents be part of the wealth of Taguig?" Binay added.

The mayor assured that despite the current situation, she will still strive to help the residents of the ten barangays affected by the Supreme Court's decision.

These areas include Cembo, Comembo, Pembo, East Rembo, West Rembo, South Cembo, Pitogo, Post Proper Northside, Post Proper Southside, Rizal, and Fort Bonifacio where BGC is located.
