Election candidates are prohibited from utilizing their social media pages for campaigning if they are not registered with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) by the deadline of December 30, 2024.

In an interview with Taguig.com, Election Officer IV Eli Aringay of Comelec-Taguig stated that posts of candidates on unregistered social media pages used for campaigning will be removed.

However, Comelec will not prevent fan pages from posting about their favored candidates and expressing their sentiments related to them.

Aringay compared this to putting up candidates' posters in one's own home, which Comelec does not prohibit.

"We only appeal to our fellow citizens to use this responsibly. And of course, only post truthful information on their Facebook and other social media platforms," Aringay said.

Following this, Aringay invited the residents of Taguig to contact them if they wish for Comelec to conduct a demonstration of the automated counting machine in their barangay.
