An individual can save P281,461.92 per year by choosing to cycle instead of owning a car, according to a 2021 study focused on Metro Manila and published as a document titled "Bikenomics: Assessing the Value of Cycling in the Philippines".
The study also revealed that if 5% of trips within Metro Manila were made by bicycle, society could save PHP738,323,677.92 annually in health costs.
To promote the benefits of cycling, Taguig hosted National Bicycle Day on November 26, attracting a large number of Taguigeño cyclists.
The bicycle parade began at 6:30 in the morning.
A portion of C6 Road Northbound from Lower Bicutan to Baybreeze was closed from 5:30 to 7:00 a.m. for the community bike parade.
According to the city government of Taguig, if people in Metro Manila cycled, it could reduce carbon emissions by 2.7 kilograms per person.
If 5% of vehicle trips were replaced with cycling, it could potentially reduce carbon emissions by 57,000 tonnes per year.
