Despite the nationwide strike by the United Drivers and Operators Nationwide (PISTON), there will be no suspension of classes in Taguig City on November 20.

According to the city government of Taguig, they learned that major transportation organizations in the country will not participate in the transport strike, thus they decided not to cancel classes in the city.

Students who cannot attend their face-to-face classes due to the strike will be allowed to be absent, but they are required to undertake alternative methods of learning provided by their teachers.

The city government has also arranged for locations where residents can avail of free rides in case they struggle to find passenger vehicles.

According to PISTON, their nationwide strike will last for two days, from November 20 until 22, to protest the jeepney modernization.

The national government has set December 31 as the final day to apply for franchise consolidation under the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).
