Recognition was given to those supporting the advancement of women's excellence through gender and development (GAD) programs in an awarding ceremony held at SM Aura Premier in Taguig City on August 14th.
The Commission on Audit (COA) received two gold awards in the Gender and Development Transformation & Institutionalization through Mainstreaming of Programs, Agenda, Linkages & Advocacies (GADtimpala) 2023.
Meanwhile, the Department of National Defense clinched both silver and bronze awards.
In addition to the COA and DND, 17 other national government agencies were recognized by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) for their gender-sensitive programs.
The awarding of recognitions to government agencies promoting GAD coincided with the 14th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta of Women or Republic Act No. 9710.
The primary goal of this act is to empower women, protect them from violence, and respect their human rights. It also aims to achieve gender equality in all aspects of life.
