The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has now installed a coin deposit machine in Taguig City, located at the SM Hypermarket in FTI.
BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat stated that they are close to reaching a total of P100 million worth of Philippine coins after they placed the first batch of 25 coin machines in various malls and supermarkets across Metro Manila.
They are planning to deploy more coin deposit machines in the provinces.
Romulo-Puyat reminded the public to avoid depositing coins that are taped or wrapped in plastic. It is also prohibited to put any other items other than coins, as it may damage the machine if buttons, tokens, nails, and others are dropped into it.
By the end of September, P98.8 million worth of coins had been deposited in the machines.
The new machines, in addition to the one at SM Hypermarket in FTI-Taguig, can be found at: SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City; SM City Grand Central, Caloocan; SM City Marilao, Bulacan; SM City Taytay, Rizal; SM Southmall, Las Piñas City; SM City Sucat, Parañaque; SM City Calamba; SM City Marikina; SM City San Mateo, Rizal; SM City Valenzuela; Robinsons Place Metro East, Pasig City; Robinsons Place Novaliches, Quezon City (QC); Robinsons Place Antipolo, Rizal and Robinsons Place Magnolia, QC.
Previously, the BSP had installed coin machines at the Festival Mall, Muntinlupa City; SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City; SM City North EDSA, QC; SM City Fairview, QC; SM City San Lazaro, Manila; SM City Bicutan, Parañaque; SM City Bacoor, Cavite; Robinsons Place Ermita, Manila and Robinsons Place Galleria, Ortigas.
Last June, the BSP placed coin machines at the SM Mall of Asia and also at Robinsons Place Manila and the Festival Mall in Alabang.
Coins deposited into the coin deposit machines will be credited to the depositor's GCash or Maya electronic wallet. Alternatively, they can choose to receive shopping vouchers in exchange for their deposited coins.
