The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has approved the Law Department's recommendation to consider the 10 EMBO barangays, formerly part of Makati City, as part of Taguig City. This approval was given on August 21.
Based on Memorandum Number 230806 issued by the Comelec on August 19, this will form the basis for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2023.
"Resolved, further, to approve the following recommendatory actions on the commission's preparation for the implementation of the administrative transfer of the 10 barangays in Makati City to Taguig City," states the memorandum.
The Election Records and Statistics Department (ERSD) has been tasked by Comelec to provide an updated coding system to the Information and Technology Department (ITD) for the barangays in the second district of Makati and Taguig City and to provide the BSKE forms and supplies for the new electoral data.
This is to also provide the second district of Makati with a new server database and facilitate changes in precincts and the database.
The Election and Barangay Affairs Department (EBAD) has been asked to prepare a detailed process for the administrative transfer, including the preparations for the new Project of Precinct (POP) for the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) of the second district of Makati City and OEO of Taguig City.
Comelec has also tasked the Administrative Services Department with supplying and assisting in the transfer of computers and other equipment from the OEO of the second district of Makati City and Taguig City.
The Education and Information Department will be responsible for disseminating information in collaboration with the OEO of Makati City's 2nd District and the OEO of Taguig City.
The Finance Department of Comelec has been tasked with preparing the budget for the voter transfer.
The Printing Committee will print new ballots for the 10 barangays that have been transferred from Makati City to Taguig City. Comelec will reprint 228,149 barangay and 67,716 SK ballots for the ten new barangays in Taguig City, which include Cembo, Comembo, East Rembo, Pembo, Pitogo, Post Proper Northside, Post Proper Southside, Rizal, South Cembo, and West Rembo.
The Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections will be held on October 30, 2023.
