Starting from September 1, 2023, several expressway toll plazas will no longer accept cash or coins.
A two-month dry run for contactless collections will be conducted to assess the readiness of operators for this system, which was halted due to system issues, according to the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).
The toll plazas to implement contactless collection include those under the North Luzon Expressway, Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway, Cavite-Laguna Expressway, Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway-C5 Southlink, NAIA Expressway, South Metro Manila Skyway (Stages 1 and 2), South Luzon Expressway, Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway, Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3, Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway, and the STAR Tollway.
Meanwhile, the TRB has approved an increase in the toll fee for the Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) starting on Monday, August 21 at 12:01 a.m.
Vehicles passing through Cavitex Kawit Toll Plaza (Road 1 Extension Segment 4 Zapote to Kawit) that fall under Class 1 will now pay P73.00, while those in Class 2 will pay P146.00, and Class 3 will pay P219.00.
For Cavitex Paranaque (Road 1 Seaside to Zapote), the new toll fees are P35.00 for Class 1, P70.00 for Class 2, and P104.00 for Class 3.
As a consideration, public vehicles such as jeepneys, buses, and UV Express will not see an increase in toll rates for the next three months.
