Thousands of government officials and employees are set to participate in the national fun run on September 1, 2024, marking the beginning of a month-long celebration of the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA).
The event, dubbed "VibeRun: Takbo para sa mga Servant-Heroes," will commence at 4:00 in the morning at various locations throughout the country. In Metro Manila, the run will kick off at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta Park, where government workers from the National Capital Region and Region IV will participate. See below for the various locations where the simultaneous fun run will take place.
Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chairperson Karlo Nograles stated that the funds raised from the fun run will benefit the CSC's Pamanang Lingkod Bayani (PLBi) Program.
"As we begin the 124th PCSA, our goal is to host an event that carries profound meaning and purpose for all participants. VibeRun goes beyond the act of running. It serves as a meaningful way to contribute. The funds raised will directly benefit the PLBi, providing essential financial support to the families of civil servants who lost their lives in the line of duty," according to Nograles.
The families of deceased government employees, who died while on duty or because of their work, are given a one-time financial assistance of P100,000, a commemoration plaque, and a scholarship grant for the immediate family members left behind.
Since its inception in 2011, the PLBi program has provided support to 249 recognized deceased government employees.
The fun run will feature two categories, the 3-kilometer and 5-kilometer races.
To participate in the VibeRun, register at bit.ly/4cY75dU by August 29, 2024. The registration fee is P250.00 for each participant.
