The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) was one of the government agencies that received a bomb threat on Monday, February 12, targeting one of its facilities in Bicutan, Taguig City.

DOST received an email stating that their Taguig City office was going to be bombed.

This follows the bomb threat received by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Central Office (DENR-Central Office) and the Department of Education (DepEd) in Bataan.

While no bombs were found in the three facilities, the incident caused a disruption of work after employees were evacuated from their offices.

The Department of Justice has directed the National Bureau of Investigation to investigate the incident, with the assistance of the Japan police attaché and other relevant law enforcement agencies.

The bomb threat was sent via email by a Takahiro Karasawa, a similar Japanese handle used by those who also threatened to bomb the MRT-3 in September 2023.

The NBI stated that the name Karasawa is also associated with bomb threats in other countries.

The bomb threat also took place at the House of Representatives, in the Batasang Pambansa complex, last week.
