A Chinese man, apprehended at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 for attempting to smuggle illegal drugs and bullets out of the country, is set to be deported.
The arrestee, identified by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) as 52-year-old Qian Qiang, was en route to Guangzhou, China, intending to board a China Southern flight on August 10.
It was discovered that Qian was halted by the Office of Transportation Security staff during the final security check when the authorities noticed an object resembling a bullet inside a pair of shoes.
Inspectors punctured the soles of the shoes and found two 22LR bullets. Besides the bullets, they discovered a plastic bag containing approximately five grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, also known as shabu, worth P34,000.
Inspectors summoned the NAIA Anti-Illegal Drugs Inter-Agency Task Group to apprehend Qian.
Qian was found to be employed by a company based in the Philippines and held a valid 9(g) visa.
However, due to his breach of the law, in attempting to smuggle bullets and drugs, his visa has been cancelled and he will be deported from the country. Qian is currently awaiting deportation proceedings at the BI Warden's Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa.
