According to Malacañang, based on the released Memorandum Circular 67 series of 2024, the early suspension of work in government offices and schools is intended to provide government employees and students ample time to observe traditional activities related to All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, which will be celebrated on November 1 and 2, 2024.
"In order to provide government employees full opportunity to properly observe traditional All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day activities, allow them to travel to and from different regions in the country, and promote domestic tourism, work in government offices and classes at all levels shall be suspended on 31 October 2024 starting 12:00 p.m," states the memorandum signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
However, agencies involved in delivering essential and health services, disaster preparedness and response, or the performance of other vital services, will still need to report to work.
Private companies may also choose to suspend work early, depending on the decision of their leaders.
