The head of the Philippine National Police - National Capital Region Police Office (PNP-NCRPO) has been replaced following the reshuffling of key PNP officials. A ceremony was held at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City on July 7th.
Eight police generals have taken their new positions, with the new PNP-NCRPO chief being Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
He replaces Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan Okubo, who is now the head of the PNP Directorate for Community Relations.
Maj. Gen. Eric Noble, the former director of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), is the new head of the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management, while Brig. Gen. Samuel Nacion has been appointed as the new PNPA chief.
Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee is the new director of human resource and doctrine development. For logistics, Maj. Gen. Mario Reyes is the new director, while Brig. Gen. Alan Nazarro is the new head of the Highway Patrol Group. Maj. Gen. John Arnaldo took over leadership of the Directorate for Intelligence from Nartatez.
The ceremony at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City was led by PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr.
Prior to this, the reshuffling within the PNP and a change-of-command ceremony was supposedly to be done last June 27, but it was halted by Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos, who said it needed approval from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Acorda stated that the reshuffling of key positions within the PNP underwent thorough deliberation and was already approved by the President.
According to Acorda, there is no truth in any misunderstanding between him and Abalos, and that they have already discussed the changes within the PNP.
