The Sunrise Ceremony marked the commencement of a week-long remembrance of the 82nd Day of Valor and Philippine Veterans' Week.

"We must teach the youth that valor needs not be constrained and witnessed only during wartime. This I think, above all others, would be the most befitting tribute we can give our ancestors. Let their examples be our inspiration, that we too can be heroes," Galido declared during the ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (TUKS) at the Heroes' Cemetery.

The Day of Valor celebration carries the theme "Honoring the Valor of the Veterans: Foundation for a United Filipino."
