Five candidates are set to battle for the congressional seat of Taguig-Pateros First District in the upcoming elections on May 12, 2025.

The candidates include former Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano from the Nationalist People's Coalition, Allan Cerafica from the Federal Party of the Philippines, incumbent Congressman Ricardo "Ading" Cruz, Jr. from the Nacionalista Party, Pedro dela Cruz running as an independent, and Ricardo Opoc who is also running as an independent.

The entire municipality of Pateros and the eastern part of Taguig, comprising of the barangays of Bagumbayan, Bambang, Calzada, Comembo, Hagonoy, Ibayo-Tipas, Ligid-Tipas, Lower Bicutan, New Lower Bicutan, Napindan, Palingon, Pembo, Rizal, San Miguel, Santa Ana, Tuktukan, Ususan, and Wawa, are under the Taguig-Pateros First District.

Taguig.com had an interview with one of the candidates for the representative of the Taguig-Pateros First District, Cayetano, in a location in Taguig City, regarding his residency issue.

On October 28, 2024, the Election Registration Board (ERB) of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) decided to dismiss his and his wife Fille Saint Merced Cayetano's application to transfer their voting registration records from their previous voting location in Barangay Fort Bonifacio to Barangay Ususan, where they also have a residence.

Meanwhile, Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said that Cayetano could seek legal remedies. He further added that they could not yet determine at the Comelec if this decision by the ERB would affect Cayetano's candidacy.

According to the Cayetano couple, they have been residing at Pacific Residences in Barangay Ususan for two years and five months, hence, they have the right to transfer their voters' records.
