A 24-year-old man crashed into a road sign, leading to his arrest by the Taguig City Police Substation 11 personnel after attempting to escape from a checkpoint. As it turns out, he was carrying over half a million pesos worth of marijuana.

Over three and a half kilos (3.52 kg) of marijuana, worth P563,600, along with assorted paraphernalia, were confiscated from the man known only as Carlito in Barangay Cembo, Taguig City on August 7, 2024, around 3:00 AM.

Carlito was riding his motorbike when he was stopped by the Taguig City Police on J.P. Rizal Extension in Barangay Cembo for a routine inspection.

Carlito attempted to evade the police but fell off his bike when it hit a road sign, which led to the discovery of his substantial marijuana haul.

In total, the items seized from the suspect, believed to be a marijuana courier, included two long objects wrapped in cling film and brown packaging tape containing suspected marijuana, one plastic sachet of dried leaves and fruiting tops of suspected marijuana, one large vacuum-sealed transparent plastic sachet of dried leaves and fruiting tops of suspected marijuana, one machine-sealed pack sachet containing a vape cartridge filled with suspected cannabis oil, ten disposable vape cartridges with cannabis oil, and a zip-lock sachet containing 15 jellybean candies suspected to contain marijuana.

The suspect's motorbike was also seized.

Carlito will be charged with violating the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as well as breaching Article 151 (Resistance or Disobedience to a Person in Authority or the agents of such person), Section 5 (Transportation of dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential chemicals).
