President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has appointed former Taguig City Councilor Michelle Anne Baluyut Gonzales as the new commissioner of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor.

Her appointment letter, dated September 27, 2024, states that she will replace Pablo Guanco.

Gonzales served as councilor for the second district of Taguig from 2010 until 2016.

Her daughter, Michelle Mae Gonzales, was previously appointed as Commissioner-at-Large of the National Youth Commission in August of this year.

In related news, President Marcos also appointed former Executive Secretary Oscar Orbos as the Acting Chairperson and Member of the Board of Directors of the People's Television Network, Incorporated (PTNI), representing the private sector, on October 2, 2024.

Political analyst and media man Antonio Contreras was appointed as Acting Vice Chairperson and Member of the PTNI Board of Directors, representing the educational sector; former PTNI Manager Kat De Castro is now the director-general of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA); and lawyer Francis Carlo Taparan is now the Director IV of the National Printing Office (NPO).
