This announcement comes despite the fact that the incumbent congressman for the same district, Ricardo "Ading" Cruz, will also be running for reelection.

In a Facebook video post, Lino Cayetano stated that he supports the candidacy of Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano and will collaborate with her to advance projects that will further develop the city.
"I have always believed that the city of Taguig is heading in the right direction. But there is still a lot we need to do. There are many things we need to fix. There is no such thing as a perfect government. But we need to be aggressive in finding solutions for our problems."
Cayetano also mentioned that the first district, particularly Pateros, holds sentimental value for him as his father once lived there.
Meanwhile, Cruz posted on his Facebook Page, Gumiho Woong, affirming his continued alliance with Mayor Cayetano.
"I am still running for Congressman in District 1 and Pateros under the group of Mayor Lani Cayetano. Ricardo Ading Cruz is ready to serve you once again as the Congressman of District 1 of Taguig and Pateros," the post read.
