A four-month-old infant from Taguig City was among the nearly 500 minors rescued by the Philippine National Police (PNP) from online abuse.

PNP Chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil stated that these minors were rescued from various parts of the country since 2022.

375 of the rescued individuals were girls, and 121 were boys, all aged 17 and below.

The four-month-old infant was saved from being sold by its mother and aunt to pedophiles.

According to the PNP Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) Director Police Brig. Gen. Portia Manalad, this is one of the most horrifying cases they have managed.

"The PNP stands firm in its fight against all forms of child exploitation. These rescued victims represent lives saved and futures restored. Every rescue mission is a step closer to justice and a safer environment for our children," said PNP chief Marbil.

According to Marbil, operations bolstered by the Republic Act No. 11930, or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) law since 2022, have led to the arrest of 167 suspects, the filing of 218 cases, and the incarceration of 12 individuals.
