DITO Telecommunity, a telecom provider, has bestowed free and fast internet connection to six public schools in Taguig City, benefiting approximately 30,000 students.

Under the Adopt-A-School Program of Hands On Manila, a non-profit private organization, DITO launched its Unli 5G wifi at Cipriano P. Sta. Teresa Elementary School, Silangan Elementary School, Taguig Integrated School, Napindan Integrated School, South Daang Hari Elementary School, and Taguig National High School this January.

Joyce Capacillo, the head of DITO Telecommunity's Home Business Unit, noted that this initiative is not just a technical solution for students struggling due to their limited internet capabilities, but also a beacon of hope for them to continue pursuing their dreams and aspirations.

"We aim to support the education sector by helping provide equitable access to the internet. We recognize that lack of internet connectivity not only limits students' access to educational resources but also hinders their ability to navigate and fully engage in a digital environment, a skill that is crucial for their future," according to Capacillo.

Capacillo further stated that students would no longer need to struggle with purchasing their mobile data or endure slow internet connection just to complete their assignments or online examinations.

Among the attendees at the program's launch were leaders and representatives from the schools provided with DITO's internet connection, including Dr. Flordelyn Umagat, Principal of Silangan Elementary School; Annette Cristobal, Principal of Cipriano P. Sta. Teresa Elementary School; Dr. Francia Patron, Principal of Napindan Integrated School; Kathryn Raymundo, HOM School Coordinator of Taguig National High School; Dr. Joselito Mataac, Principal of Taguig Integrated School; and Marieta Junio, Principal of South Daang Hari Integrated School.

DITO started the project in Taguig City and plans to expand it to other areas in the country.
