Evangeline Schmidt, 48 years old, was arrested at Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City on November 8, 2024, by the personnel of the BI fugitive search unit (FSU).
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado stated that Schmidt and her German husband had been abusing children from 2004 until 2009.
"Reports state that she allegedly tolerated the abuse of children so she could continue to receive financial support from her husband and finance her lavish lifestyle," Viado said.
An Interpol Red Notice was issued against Schmidt in 2023, a year after a local court in Darmstadt, Germany issued her warrant of arrest.
Her charges include sexual abuse of children, sexual abuse of persons in a dependent position, aggravated sexual abuse of children, and rape.
Schmidt is set to be deported to Germany and will be blacklisted by the BI.
