Award-winning actress Gloria Romero passed away at the age of 91 on January 25, 2025.

Her daughter, Maritess Gutierrez, announced her mother's passing, along with the actress's nieces, Lovely Rivero and Pia Morato.
In a post on her Facebook page, Lovely Rivero II, Rivero said she was praying for the peace of her aunt's soul and praying for the strength of Gutierrez and her entire family.
"Rest well, our Movie Queen, Tita GLORIA ROMERO. Praying for the repose of your soul & for strength for Maritess Gutierrez, Chris & the whole family during this very difficult time."
Pia Morato, a broadcaster and spokesperson for the Quezon City Government, said in her post that Romero was a significant part of her childhood.
"Goodbye Tita Gloria. Rest in peace. At most I got to say goodbye. You will always be a great part of my childhood memories. Thank you for teaching me how to be a queen. There is none like you. We love you Maritess Gutierrez and Chris."
Romero, born Gloria Galla in Denver, Colorado in 1933, first appeared in a Filipino film in 1949 as an extra in "The House on the Old Hill."
Her first leading role was in the 1951 film "Kasintahan sa Pangarap."
Her film "Dalagang Ilocana" earned her the first FAMAS Best Actress award.
The last film Romero appeared in was "Rainbow's Sunset" in the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival, where she won a Best Actress award.
