The heat has somewhat eased in Taguig and the southern parts of Metro Manila as the heat index dropped to 41 degrees Celsius today, May 3, 2024.
However, the heat index hit a dangerous 47 degrees Celsius in Dagupan City, Pangasinan and Aparri, Cagayan this Friday.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), constant exposure to such high temperatures can cause muscle cramps, dehydration, and heat stroke.
Roxas City, Capiz, meanwhile, recorded a heat index of 45 degrees Celsius and Laoag, Ilocos Norte, was at 44 degrees Celsius.
The heat index also hit 44 degrees Celsius in Iba, Zambales; Cuyo, Palawan; Virac, Catanduanes; Pili, Camarines Sur; and Zamboanga City.
Bacnotan, La Union; Tuguegarao, Cagayan; Casiguran, Aurora; San Jose Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Princesa, Palawan; and Aborlan, Palawan registered a heat index of 43 degrees Celsius this Friday.
Batac, Ilocos Norte; Baler, Aurora; Olongapo City; Infanta, Quezon; Coron, Palawan; Calapan, Oriental Mindoro; Daet, Camarines Norte and Legaspi City, Albay recorded a heat index of 42 degrees Celsius.
