Prepare for intense heat interspersed with occasional rainfall across much of the country due to easterlies from the Pacific Ocean, including the effect of El Niño.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the severe heat will continue after recording the highest temperature of 46 degrees Celsius in Bacnotan, La Union on March 24.
The high temperature recorded on March 23 in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro was at 36.5 degrees Celsius, while Metro Manila was at 33.7 degrees Celsius.
"In the coming months, the number of dry and warm days across the country will continue to increase, although isolated thunderstorms are also likely to occur, usually in the afternoon or evening," according to PAGASA.
PAGASA also stated that there will be an average of 8 hours of sunshine in the coming days of March. PAGASA officially declared the start of summer last March 22.
