President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. recently assured attendees at the graduation of the Philippine Army Officer Candidate Course "Gaigmat" Class 58-2023 in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, that the military personnel of the country will undergo rigorous training and receive modern defense and combat equipment.

"The government's commitment to your advancement and welfare extends beyond simply providing contemporary equipment. We continue to prioritize retooling and retraining to equip you with intellectual resilience, tactical skills, and strategic acumen required to excel in the modern battlefield," stated the President, who also serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

"I invite you to join me and this administration in building a better, safer, and more secure nation for all Filipinos in the coming years," he added.

One hundred and six soldiers graduated from the Officer Candidate School, which provided them with a year of training in military service and leadership. Upon completing the course, the officer candidates were promoted to Second Lieutenants.

In a separate interview with AFP spokesperson Col. Medel Aguilar, he revealed that thirty-six percent of the 150 projects planned for the modernization of the armed forces have been completed. This is to equip the soldiers with the capability to defend the country's territory from external threats and intimidation.
