No police officers involved in the shooting at the Taguig Central Police Station (CPS) on August 7, 2023, have been removed from their duties.
According to the Southern Police District (SPD), they are still conducting a thorough investigation of the incident to determine who should be held responsible.
"We want to assure the public that this incident is being treated as an isolated case. As of now, we believe there is no need to relieve the involved police officers from their duties. However, we assure the family and the public a thorough, impartial, and swift investigation to ensure that all aspects of the incident are comprehensively addressed," the SPD said in a statement.
The SPD management wants to ensure fairness in their investigation and uncover the origin of the dispute that led to the shooting and the death of an officer from the Community Affairs Office of the Taguig CPS.
At the same time, the SPD said they would strengthen their programs on stress management and discipline among their policemen.
The SPD management also thanked Corporal Jestoni Señoron, who immediately disabled a rampaging and shooting police officer by shooting him down.
"His active presence of mind and timely response helped neutralize the suspect and protect his colleagues, including the two female personnel present in the office," the SPD further stated.
Chief Master Sergeant Alraquib Aguel, who was shot by Señoron to stop his rampage and shooting within the Taguig CPS, is still in the hospital.
Executive Master Sergeant Heriberto Saguiped died after being shot by Aguel. Saguiped's wake is being held in Barangay Santa Ana, Taguig.
Corporal Louie Allison Sindac, who was also shot by Aguel, is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
According to some witnesses, the dispute between Aguel, Sindac, and Saguiped started over a dish of pork sinigang.
