A 28-year-old Japanese man, overstaying in the Philippines and sought in connection with theft and deception, was apprehended by authorities in Pampanga on Monday, January 20, 2025.

Tsukita Yuhei is currently detained at the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Detention Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City, after the BI was alerted by authorities in Tokyo, Japan regarding the suspect's continued stay in the country.

It was discovered that Tsukita and his accomplice had stolen 8 Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards. They posed as police officers and deceived their victims, claiming they were conducting an investigation and that they needed to surrender their ATM cards.

Tsukita and his accomplice managed to steal 724,000 yen or more than US$4,600 from the ATM cards they acquired.

BI-FSU Chief Rendel Ryan Sy stated that Tsukita was arrested on Fields Avenue, Brgy. Balibago, Angeles City following the issuance of a warrant of arrest by the Tokyo Summary Court on October 27, 2022 for theft, in violation of Article 235 of the Japan penal code.

It was also noted in the Japanese national's record that he had been overstaying in the Philippines. His last recorded entry in the country was on March 16, 2019 and he had not left since then.

The BI ensured that Tsukita will be immediately deported out of the country once the paperwork related to his deportation is in order.
