There is still a chance to witness the Sogetsu Ikebana exhibit today, October 1, 2023, at the second floor of Uptown Mall on 36th Street in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
The three-day exhibit featuring paper flowers arranged alongside other recycled or repurposed materials concludes later today, Sunday.
The Sogetsu Ikebana exhibit, themed "Paper", showcases the works of national artists, some of whom pursue origami and paper flower arrangement as a hobby for home or office decoration.
SM Foundation official Neny Regino is one of the exhibitors, where she featured her folded paper turned into flowers and origami, titled "Fly, Fly, my Geisha." In the photo below, she is seen with Japanese Cultural Officer Mr. Matsuya, who toured the said exhibit.
Sogetsu Ikebana started in 1927 when Sofi Teshigahara founded a school that promotes a more liberal approach to ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arrangement.
Ikebana is a formal flower arrangement that adheres to strict rules. Teshigahara revolutionized it when she established her school, where an artist could express their own art through their paper flower arrangement.
