The two were arrested at separate locations. The Korean, Hwang Seongbin, 34 years old, was arrested on September 30, 2024, at Rockwell Drive, Barangay Poblacion, Makati City.

The Japanese, Sasaki Yohei, 36 years old, was arrested on October 1, 2024, on Mercury Street, Bahay Toro, Quezon City.

Hwang was ordered arrested by the Eujeong district court in South Korea due to a stock investment scam when he was president of a financial institution. It is alleged that he defrauded victims of 100 million won, or more than US$75,000, by convincing them to invest in his scam.

Yohei has an active warrant of arrest issued by the Omiya Summary Court in Saitama, Japan, for persuading and deceiving an elderly resident in a nursing home to invest 3 million yen in his business. Yohei worked at the nursing home as a staff member.

Yohei is also allegedly involved with a telecom fraud syndicate based in Cambodia, whose operations involve kidnapping, extortion, and deception. BI had previously arrested other members of this syndicate.

The two will be expelled from the country by the BI and placed on the country's blacklist.
