A Korean man pretending to be a Filipino is now being transferred to the Bureau of Immigration Warden Facility at Camp Bagong Diwa, Barangay Lower Bicutan, Taguig City, following his arrest at Sitio Mojon, Barangay Langub, Davao City on September 5, 2023.
The South Korean, identified as 58-year-old Kim Jinkoon, was found to be wanted in his home country due to facing seven charges. His passport has also been cancelled by the South Korean government.
Kim was previously arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Region XI, after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Region XI reported that the Korean tried to apply for a Philippine passport.
According to the DFA, Kim introduced himself as a Filipino and presented identification cards under the name Allan Sun Duran. Upon verification by the DFA, it was discovered that his identification cards were fake. Kim confessed that he obtained his Philippine birth certificate from a Filipino fixer, which he then used to make the ID cards.
His identity was also verified with the South Korean government, who confirmed from their documents that he had fled from his charges in South Korea.
Kim now faces charges of overstaying and undesirability in the Philippines, and is set to be deported back to South Korea to face his seven charges there.
