The collaboration between lawyers and the police force has been strengthened to ensure that those charged are incarcerated.
During a recent meeting between Major General Edgar Alan Okubo, chief of the Philippine National Police - National Capital Region Police Office (PNP-NCRPO), and Atty. Benedicto Malcontento, Prosecutor General, National Prosecution Service of the Department of Justice at Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig, they reinforced the implementation of DOJ Circular No. 020 or the Policy Pro-active Involvement of Prosecutors in Case Build-up.
Malcontento stated that the dismissal of filed cases can be prevented by having prosecutors guide the police force on the appropriate actions during their operations. The prosecution will also assist the police in filing complaints in court against those arrested. This is to help the victims and their families achieve justice.
"Through the unity of prosecutors and the police force, we can ensure that we help our fellow citizens achieve justice. You can trust that we will ensure the widespread implementation of this proposal in Metro Manila," said Okubo.
