A significant portion of Taguig City, including parts of Bicutan situated along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), experienced severe flooding today, July 13. The flooding resulted in vehicle breakdowns and created traffic congestion in the area.

Traffic also intensified along the C5 southbound and General Santos Avenue near the Department of Science and Technology office heading towards Paranaque due to the floods.

The flooding was caused by persistent rain brought on by the confluence of a low-pressure area and the southwest monsoon.

The Office of the Civil Defense - National Capital Region stated that the flooding was exacerbated by the temporary closure of some drainage systems due to ongoing road construction in the area.

The Taguig City government has suspended afternoon classes at all levels in both public and private schools throughout the city. The suspension is automatic in line with the yellow rainfall warning issued by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA.
