The low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has officially become a typhoon as it passes near Guam.
The said typhoon, which will be named Gener, is estimated to enter the Philippines on Tuesday evening, September 17, and will exit by Wednesday morning, September 18, 2024.
As of 10:00 PM last night, the typhoon's center was located 2,165 kilometers east of Southern Luzon.
It carries winds with a strength of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near its center, and can gust up to 55 kph.
Its current direction is west, north-west at a speed of 20 kph.
The strong winds span 280 kilometers from its center.
The typhoon is expected to bring rainfall to the country, intensified by the southwest monsoon or Habagat.
According to the current monitoring of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the typhoon will not directly affect any part of the country. However, it will influence the Habagat, which will bring rainfall to the country.
