Makati Mayor Abigail Binay allegedly threatened to shut down all schools in the barangays affected by the territorial dispute.

According to the Taguig City government, in a meeting with Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, Binay, and officials from the Department of Education (DepEd) in Makati and Taguig-Pateros, Binay allegedly stated that if Taguig does not compensate for the school facilities or pay rent for using them, she would simply close down the schools.

Similarly, Taguig claimed that Makati City Administrator Claro Certeza lied when he said that Taguig City rejected Makati's offer to continue providing free uniforms, shoes, and other school supplies to the 30,000 students of the schools affected by the Supreme Court's decision.

According to Taguig, such news is malicious and fake, purposely timed with the reopening of classes.

Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano stated that issues regarding the ownership of schools or payment for them should be set aside for now to ensure a smooth implementation of the Brigada Eskwela and the reopening of classes.
