The $3.5 billion or P199 billion Makati City Subway project has been impacted by the Supreme Court decision on the jurisdiction shift of Fort Bonifacio and EMBO (Enlisted Men's Barrios) Barangays from Makati City to Taguig City.

On September 5, the private company behind the Makati City subway, Philippine Infradev Holdings, Incorporated, wrote to the Makati City government stating the need to modify aspects of the project.

In the letter sent by Delfin Angcao, Corporate Secretary and Corporate Information Officer of the company, it was stated to the Makati City government that "under the Joint Venture Agreement executed between the Makati City Government and the Company, the depot and a few stations of the Makati City subway system will be in the affected areas. Also, the alignment of the subway will no longer be feasible."

Some of the stations that may be affected by the possible changes to the Makati City subway include those in the University of Makati in Barangay West Rembo, Kalayaan Avenue in Barangay Cembo, and on Sampaguita Street near Makati Hospital in Barangay Pembo.

Infradev Holdings has expressed their desire to meet with the Makati City government to determine what will be done to proceed with the project.

The country's first subway was expected to be completed by 2025. The groundbreaking for this took place in December 2018.

In addition to Infradev Holdings, other companies involved in the project include the Greenland Holdings Group, Jiangsu Provincial Construction Group Co. Ltd., Holdings Ltd., and China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd.
