Fifteen areas in the Philippines are experiencing dangerously high heat indices today, April 22, 2024.
Metro Manila, including Taguig City, is experiencing a heat index of 41 degrees Celsius today, but tomorrow, April 23, 2024, the National Capital Region is expected to reach a dangerous heat index, with the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Administration (PAGASA) forecasting a temperature of 42 degrees Celsius.
The 15 areas currently experiencing a dangerous heat index this April 22 are:
CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur - 45°C
Infanta, Quezon - 44°C
Puerto Princesa City, Palawan - 44°C
Aborlan, Palawan - 44°C
Dagupan City, Pangasinan - 43°C
Aparri, Cagayan - 43°C
Legazpi, Albay - 43°C
Virac, Catanduanes - 43°C
Masbate City, Masbate - 43°C
Guiuan, Eastern Samar - 43°C
Roxas City, Capiz - 42°C
Iloilo City, Iloilo - 42°C
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan - 42°C
Dumangas, Iloilo - 42°C
Catarman, Northern Samar - 42°C
The heat index is the temperature the body feels in relation to the humidity present in the air.
PAGASA warns that exposure to these high temperatures may result in heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which can lead to heat stroke for those overly exposed to the sun during this heatwave.
