According to the investigation, the suspect, Lieutenant Colonel Roderick Pascua, allegedly caught Police Executive Master Sergeant Emmanuel de Asis, 55, and his wife, Executive Master Sergeant Rosemarie Pascua, in an intimate moment. The suspect then reportedly shot the victim out of intense rage.
The alleged infidelity and subsequent shooting occurred inside Camp Bagong Diwa on November 28, 2024, according to Police Major Hazel Asilo, spokesperson of the Southern Police District (SPD).
In the suspect's signed affidavit, he admitted to using a hacksaw to dismember the victim's body, placing the parts into two separate bags, loading them onto a pickup truck, and transporting them to his ancestral home in Baguio City for burial.
The suspect's child posted on Facebook regarding their search for their missing father. The last known location was tracked to Camp Bagong Diwa, specifically a unit in the Married Non-Officers' Quarters, according to the GPS tracker on his mobile phone.
The police identified the victim's last location as the Pascua couple's unit, where the suspect confessed to his actions and directed them to the burial site. The victim's remains were excavated on December 4, 2024.
Not only the suspect lieutenant colonel will face charges, but possibly also his wife, ranked as executive master sergeant, as an accessory to the crime for failing to report the incident which she witnessed.
Previously, De Asis' niece had posted on Facebook looking for her uncle who had been missing since November 27, 2024.
He was scheduled to attend a conference in Metro Manila on November 30, 2024, but never showed. His phone numbers and messenger account have been unreachable since November 28, 2024.
The niece learned that her uncle had taken a Grab Taxi from the LJ Hotel in Barangay Bagumbayan, Taguig City to the NCRPO Headquarters, but he has been missing since.
